The countdown has begun...

Although I am not due to fly out to Australia until April I feel like the countdown has well and truly begun. 20 weeks today I will be touching down in Cairns, and in a mere 11 I will have left my full time job here in Scunthorpe. The thought of this is both exciting and terrifying. On one hand I can't wait to leave, on the other I am scared of taking the plunge and heading out there with no guarentee of a job and without the most important thing to me - my friends and family.

It dawned on me today that I still have lots to do before I am ready to get on my way, the majority of which relies on money (maybe I shouldn't have cut up that credit card quite so quickly)

The to-do list consists of travel insurance, accomodation, bank account, suitable clothes, bank transfers, setting up skype, cancelling phone contracts etc etc. I know I have got plenty of time to sort all this so I'm not panicking just yet.

Despite the stresses and worries (I don't want to let myself or anyone else down by coming back before I have had chance to explore all that Oz has to offer) I am also majorly excited to get started. These cold winter days are making me more anxious than ever to get away and if I had the money I honestly believe I would go tomorrow. This isn't helped by the 2 Alexs' blog. Reading all about their exotic adventure and how they are spending their days sunbathing on the beach is making me regret not saving sooner and heading over there with them, but I will save my Thai adventure for another time.

Seeing as I am still in cold, rainy England this is all I have to say for now. I will keep updating this blog when I get chance as I want to document the whole adventure and I think that should include the planning as well.
